<p>The sales game requires a team effort for sustainable success. Ask any successful sales rep and they will tell you about their team. Whether it is the accountant, spouse, children, tech support, delivery people, instructors, or suppliers, the rep acknowledges their contribution and is thankful they are part of her team. Without this team she knows she would not be as successful.<br/><br/>Your team<br/><br/>Selling involves so many different steps and activities that no one person can manage them all alone and be successful. Your team allows you to leverage your time, your selling skills and your success. To manage time effectively, a rep needs to ask: How can I delegate activities so I can sell more?<br/><br/>An important exercise is to look at your sales cycle and determine:<br/><br/>•	Who are your team members?<br/><br/>•	How do they make you successful?<br/><br/>•	How do I need to support, coach and manage these individuals?<br/><br/>Once you’ve answered these questions, you’ll have a group of people that will support you in every way and at every step of your sales efforts and you can use their expertise to manage your sales cycle. You need to trust these members and allow them to do their jobs so they can support your sales activities.<br/><br/>When I was in the printing business we had a rep who treated everyone on his team the same way: terribly. I managed my team with respect. I could wander back to shipping on the Friday of the July long weekend and ask to get a large piece of equipment onto a client’s production floor by Saturday morning at 9:00 am. The shipping department would make it happen. And I’d close the deal and get the business. If the other rep asked for the same favour, he wouldn’t get it shipped. This would cause him to make a scene and go over everyone’s head. This, of course, alienated him even more from his fellow workers. Which rep do you want to be?<br/><br/>Solo sports<br/><br/>Even if you play a solo sport, you have a team. As a professional you have a coach, an agent, business manager, doctor, and accountant. You cannot be successful without this team. The same applies in sales. You cannot reach your goals without a team of people supporting you.<br/><br/>It is lonely in the sales game. While you need to succeed alone – you will not succeed alone. Sales reps must contend with traveling to new places, the stress of RFPs and presentations, dealing with “the office,” managing and serving clients and prospects, growing revenue and income, yearly changes to the comp plan and that feeling of “How am I going to top last year?” I don’t know anyone who can manage all these issues without the support of a core group of people.<br/><br/>Building trust<br/><br/>Your team is going to need to trust you, in the same way that your customers do. You need to deliver on promises, stand up for them when needed, get them tickets to the baseball game or theatre, and— most importantly—treat them with respect. Some of you may say, “Isn’t that obvious?” Yes, it should be obvious yet look at how many reps truly value their team and behave this way. Not too many.<br/><br/>Remember that old saying: Careful what you ask for as you just might get it! If you say, “I don’t need anyone’s help,” then you’ll get no help. If you believe and or voice the opinion that everyone around you is an idiot, then you will get nothing but idiots and you are the biggest idiot. If you ask for help and trust those who help you, you will get a trusted team.<br/><br/>In the next few months, watch successful sales people and ask them about their teams. Then, create a list of team members that you have or need to have on your team. Next, determine what activities you can delegate and see if you need more (or different) team mates. Then, go out and find the missing teammates. Remember: ask for what you want!<br/><br/>Sayers says:<br/><br/>•	Who is on your team?<br/><br/>•	How are treating your team? (I hope with respect.)<br/><br/>•	How do you build trust on your team?<br/><br/>•	What are you asking for?<br/><br/>•	So what sport are you playing: solo or team?<br/><br/>

<p>It was February of 1980, at Madison Square Gardens during the height of the Cold War. It was there, that the U.S. Men&#8217;s Olympic Hockey team took on what experts considered the world&#8217;s best hockey team at the time: The U.S.S.R. It was an exhibition match meant to be a preview of the upcoming Olympics and the U.S. was trounced, 10-3.<br/><br/>Fast forward ten days later and after being given no chance by critics and fans alike, the United States men&#8217;s team pulled one of the biggest sporting upsets of all time by defeating the U.S.S.R., 4-2. That team would then go on to win the Olympic Gold Medal and their story would become known as the &#8220;Miracle on Ice.&#8221; So how did they do it? How did they go from being given no chance to pulling off the inconceivable? Some say it was one of those perfect moments when miracles happen. Others point to something more solid: the preparation. The Russians spent their practice days before the medal round sitting around, studying plays, and generally relaxing. In general, they didn&#8217;t really prepare. The U.S. team practiced as hard as they ever had before. The coach looked for weaknesses and planned a winning strategy.<br/><br/>Their dramatic turnaround in such a short time is a solid example of two things: 1) It&#8217;s never too late to reach your goals, and 2) with the proper planning and strategy, you&#8217;re more likely to accomplish great things. This couldn&#8217;t be a better vision to have in your head if you&#8217;re nearing retirement and haven&#8217;t spent much time planning and saving for life after work. While not all investment stories end successfully, with just the right combination of perseverance, planning, and sacrifice, you may still be able to retire in relative comfort even if you got a late start in the game.<br/><br/>Your strategy and frame of mind are the keys when beginning to save for retirement later in the game. You can sit around like the U.S.S.R., resting and doing basic review, or you can prepare yourself mentally for the challenging, (but potentially rewarding) road ahead. When faced with the reality of catching up, you must also accept the fact that you may have to be more aggressive in your savings habits and your investments than some of your friends or co-workers who started saving long-ago. You no longer have the luxury of being as conservative later in life as you may like. You may also have to consider the possibility of working past age 65.<br/><br/>Most Americans who work today breeze past age 65. There&#8217;s a growing trend of people who love their jobs or just love to work. Realizing that you may have to work a bit longer is something you might have to consider at this stage. Now that you&#8217;ve sharpened your skates, and prepared mentally, it&#8217;s time to go out and play.<br/><br/>First things first. If you&#8217;re starting late in the game it&#8217;s extremely important to take advantage of the catch-up provision offered by 401(k)s and IRAs. In order to catch up and still have a comfortable retirement, you&#8217;ll want to contribute the maximum amount to each, plus the extra amount you can add by law. This is known as the &#8220;catch-up provision.&#8221; If you&#8217;re 50 and older, the catch-up provision for 401(k)s in 2005 is $4000, and is set to increase to $5000 in 2006. IRAs allow you to contribute $500 this year to catch-up and $1000 in 2006. While it may seem difficult to contribute the maximum amount plus a catch-up, you have to ask yourself if you&#8217;d rather sacrifice now or worry a lot later. This helps you stay focused on your goal and every day needs of retirement. One of the biggest pieces of advice available today has to do with planning a budget and trying to play catch-up. You should list your retirement fund expenses first, as the most critical, before anything else and budget up from there.<br/><br/>Just playing catch-up isn&#8217;t the only way to save this late in the game for a successful retirement. One way to help (be more comfortable) later on in life is to reduce some of your heaviest debt right away. By reducing the amount you owe in credit card bills, car loans, or even your children&#8217;s extra college expenses, you ensure that when the time comes for you to retire, you do so knowing that your largest debts are behind you. This keeps you focused on the every day needs of retirement.<br/><br/>Finally, if you&#8217;re entering the retirement planning phase this late and you enjoy working, you might consider doing so a while longer. Besides the added financial benefit, you&#8217;re also contributing to your personal well-being both mentally and physically. You may even consider starting your own small business and making a bit of extra income while setting your own hours. After all, you&#8217;ve earned this freedom; shouldn&#8217;t you be taking advantage of it?<br/><br/>There is always something you can do to save for retirement, even if you think it&#8217;s too late. While the 1980 U.S. Men&#8217;s Olympic Hockey team may have been called the &#8220;Miracle on Ice,&#8221; planning for retirement this late in your life doesn&#8217;t take a miracle. But it does take a certain amount of self-sacrifice, some elbow grease, and some trusted planning from a financial professional. These are just a few of the basic ways to be prepared for retirement this late in the game. It won&#8217;t always be an easy path to retirement savings but with the right combination of hard work and trusted planning, you may find yourself with more time to enjoy life after work.<br/><br/>

<p>You don’t have to hang up your soccer cleats or trade in your tennis racket when your school days are over. By choosing a career in a sports-related field you can stay in the game indefinitely.<br/><br/>People who love athletics can work in areas as diverse as medicine, management, marketing, manufacturing and many other sports-occupational areas. Prospects are increasing as more people play and watch sports. With the explosion of sports for women and girls, entire industries have sprung up, such as women’s clothing and equipment. In other careers&#8211;like sports journalism and sports administration and sports training&#8211;opportunities for women to participate in previously male-dominated have, if not leveled the playing field, at least greatly expanded it.<br/><br/>There are over six million jobs in sports-related careers, according to Donna Lopiano, executive director of the Women’s Sports Foundation. While many of these jobs take special education and training, entry-level positions exist for young men and women willing to work their way up.<br/><br/>Careers in sports take many forms. While many young athletes dream of making it to the professional ranks, the reality is that very few make it that far. In other sports-related careers the news is more encouraging. From educators to architects, facilities managers to fitness instructors, physical therapists to professional athletes, there are positions to fill.<br/><br/>Below is a sample of jobs with suggested education and/or training requirements for breaking into the field.<br/><br/>Sports Journalist<br/><br/>Sports journalists report on the news of the sports world to the public. A four-year degree in journalism and/or equivalent writing experience is recommended. Job opportunities exist in newspapers and magazines, radio, and television. Most beginning journalists begin as interns on college newspapers, radio, or television stations or as general reporters on small-town newspapers. Curiosity, writing, and interviewing skills and the ability to work within deadlines are characteristics of successful journalists.<br/><br/>College Coach<br/><br/>College and university coaches are responsible for getting athletic teams ready to play in competition. In smaller colleges they may coach several sports, while in larger institutions they are mainly responsible for just one team. Duties include recruiting players, developing game strategies, and teaching skills. Most college coaching positions require a minimum of four years of college. A typical career path might begin as an athlete, followed by becoming an assistant coach at the high school or college level.<br/><br/>Exercise Physiologist<br/><br/>An exercise physiologist studies how the stress of exercise affects the body. The most common areas in which exercise physiologists work are prevention&#8211;teaching healthy lifestyle habits&#8211;and rehabilitation&#8211;helping to restore function following an accident or debilitating illness. They may manage a wellness center, teach, or conduct research. Most jobs require a minimum of a master’s degree with an expertise in exercise physiology<br/><br/>Sports Agent<br/><br/>A sports agent acts as a professional athlete’s representative in negotiating contracts, salaries, endorsements, and other business arrangements. Education includes a four-year college degree in business or a related major, often followed by a law degree. Negotiating skills, sales ability, and ability to work under stressful conditions are all traits of the successful sports agent.<br/><br/>Sports Official<br/><br/>A sports official is the field-of-play arbitrator of rules at an athletic event. The ability to make instantaneous decisions, resolve conflicts, and deal with stress and pressure, as well as the fitness level to keep up with the game are keys to success in this field. Men and women are needed to officiate in every sport and at every level from youth to professional leagues. Most people start by studying the rules of the sport and attending clinics, followed by officiating at youth and recreational levels. From there, dedicated officials can advance into high school and college sports. <p>Creatine is naturally found in vertebras. It is a nitrogenous organic acid. The supplements of creatine are used by athletes and other body builders to improve their energy levels. The nerve cells are also benefited. Creatine comes from the Greek word ‘Kreas” which means flesh. This was first found by Michael Eugene Chevreul in 1832 who gave it the name creatine. He saw that it was a part of the skeletal muscle. Creatine is not a steroid. It occurs naturally in the body.<br/><br/>Creatine is mainly taken by people who want to build their bodies. This enhances the athletic performance of people who take part in sports. It increases the muscle mass. It is generally taken as creatine monohydrate or creatine ethyl ester. It can be taken as a powder in a drink or as a capsule. It is beneficial if creatine is taken with high gylcemic index carbohydrates.<br/><br/>Taking creatine increases weight gain by about 1 Kg. per week. There is also water retention. So, people taking creatine should supplement it with fluids. Taking creatine for short periods is safe. The main work of creatine is to give energy to work out for longer periods of time, build body mass (not muscle strength) and give spurts of energy for certain athletic  activities such as cycling. Sports persons, such as basketball, football and baseball players take creatine. <br/><br/>Teenagers generally want to have an excellent body. To build their body mass and improve their athletic performance, they resort to taking creatine supplements. This is easily available. This is generally good to be used during off season training. Their effect on teenagers has not yet been fully studied. However, ‘The American College of Sports and Medicine’ does not recommend the use of creatine by anyone who is less than eighteen years of age. If it is taken, it should be medically prescribed. It should be taken under supervision. The teenager should be taking a well balanced diet. The creatine supplement should benefit him/her for the serious training that is being undertaken. The parents, coach, athletic trainer and the doctor should all be involved in supervising the teenager. In such a case a teenager who is a serious athlete can take creatine supplements. This would also see to it that he/she does not take anabolic steroids. Creatine might not work for everyone. So, the doctor would be able to decide whether the teenager needs to take it or not.<br/><br/>Some feel that there might be only slight improvement in performance even if creatine supplements are taken. So, when teenagers need to take it, it is best to take lesser than the recommended dose. It is safer for the athlete to understand the long term effects f creatine and their disadvantages before using such supplements. There is no study to tell us of the effect of long term use. Many teenagers depend on creatine supplements. It is better for a teenager to have a healthy, well balanced diet and train well rather depend on supplements to help you build your body mass.<br/><br/>Since, teenagers are always eager to do their best and achieve a lot in a short span of time any supplement to enhance their performance is always welcome by them. They should take in the pros and cons and discuss it with their trainer to really know whether they need supplements. Having knowledge about creatine and its benefits will definitely helpful.<br/><br/>

This triumph puts Barça 12 points ahead of second place Real Madrid and 21 points ahead of third place Sevilla. Barcelona is simply playing great football and their players are more motivated than ever, their Coach Pep Guardiola has done a great job and has performed impressive game plans during the 22 matches played in the season, adding 59 points. In this amazing 2008-2009 campaign Barcelona has won 19 games, lost just one and tied only 2 games.<br/><br/>During this past game, Eto’o scored the two first goals for Barcelona while Dani Alves scored the last one. The first goal of Eto’o came at minute 23 by a great play of Iniesta who carried the ball to half court and made a pass to Thierry Henry who crossed to Eto’o. The second goal came at minute 40 when Lionel Messi cross the ball to Eto’o who finished the play. The third goal was also a play from Iniesta, who set up a goal to Dani Alves at minute 66. However, just two minutes later the midfielder of Sporting Kike Mateo pulled the final goal of the game and only one for his squad, to finish with the score 3-1.<br/><br/>With these two goals, Samuel Eto’o remains as the top scorer of the league with 21 goals, four goals ahead of David Villa and 5 goals ahead of his partner Lionel Messi. Eto’o is a clear contender for the Pichichi trophy this year, although this does not perturb the Cameroon player, who is more focused on the team objectives, which are obtaining the La Liga title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. Eto’o assures his team Barcelona can conquer all these achievements as long as they don’t get too comfortable about it; they need to keep working and stay focus on each game.<br/><br/>“One less round to play, and three more points added. Hopefully, we can continue our good streak because we cannot lower our guard. If we lose our focus, any team will be able to beat us. We must take it one game at a time, although it makes it much easier to continually move forward when you set yourself a dream. You do not feel the exhaustion,” stated the top scorer Eto’o.<br/><br/>On the other hand, coach Pep Guardiola expressed he was astonished with his team performance and the capacity of his players to turn their defence to attack and their control over the ball to create goals. He hopes they continue improving and kept their eyes in their objectives without forgetting been humble in their game.<br/><br/>The next game of Barça will be against Real Betis on Sunday, February 15th at Andalucia. Real Betis is currently in 14th place of the standings with 25 points and they are coming from and important victory against Sevilla 2-1. Even with their position on the table, they will be a great contender for Barcelona and will also be an interesting game to watch.<br/><br/>

<p>I didn’t intend to work with a coach, I really didn’t! <br/><br/>Not that I didn’t recognize the benefit and value; after all coaches guide the multitudes in some profession anytime everywhere. Whether it’s many of the “manly” sports like baseball and football, or the not so manly like ice skating, or debate teams.<br/><br/>But coaching just didn’t fit into the picture I was looking at at the time. However, just by chance, an incredible “out-of- the-blue” opportunity landed in my lap; it was so good I knew I’d harbor feelings of regret if I let it pass. In actuality, it turned out to be one of the greatest “business gift” moments I’ve ever received.<br/><br/>It can be yours, too.<br/><br/>Your “gift” coach, a mentor, a sounding board, manages to help you find, or discover, and believe in your strengths and yourself. Coaching styles are mixed with elements of professionalism and creativity. They offer inspiration. A coach can help you get unstuck. A coach is like your mother—with eyes in the back of her head—only this is in a good way; he or she knows just what you need exactly when you need it!<br/><br/>Your coach is there to challenge you, so much so you soon know coaching is not quite a magic carpet ride; you learn you’re not going to get away with not trying to discover for yourself how you can achieve your goals. At the same time, there’s no doubt your coach will be there to cheer and guide you every step of the way.<br/><br/>Coaches, just like all of us, come in various shapes and sizes; although in this correlation, I’m not referring to their physical being but rather the coaching field of expertise they offer. Some of their disciplines include coaching with emphasis such as: careers, relationships, performance, business, executive, prosperity, communication and much more. In fact, I suppose there’s a coach for about anything.<br/><br/>To find a coach to most readily suit your needs, you might start by asking around—your colleagues or friends&#8211;or perhaps members at one of the specific industry forums can put you in touch with a coach. Or, put your favorite search engine to work.<br/><br/>Much like applying for a job or purchasing a new car, ask pointed questions of your coach prospect. <p>Coaching a sports team takes a lot of work and effort. Coaches are rarely better performers than the players they coach. In fact many coaches these days were fairly average players back when they played the game. They are responsible for getting sporting teams or individuals ready to compete, and lead them through their particular game or event with success. Drills, practices and scrimmages are done before the event to get the athlete or team ready for competition. To also aid in the win, coaches usually have a playbook and make sure the team properly executes the plays in it. Some other duties coaches have include player recruitment and some general manager responsibilities.<br/><br/>Great sports coaches inspire their teams to believe they can win. Some well know coaches who were known for stirring emotion and inspiration are former UCLA coach John Wooden, Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, Tennessee Vol&#8217;s coach Pat Summit, and long time gymnastics coach Bela Karolyi. To be a successful coach you must know your players (or team) needs to be mentally, physically and emotionally in tune. A coach who seems to master balancing these elements within his team is Phil Jackson. Jackson realizes his players must learn to expand, sharpen, and focus all these areas to really excel and master their sport.<br/><br/>Now the question shifts to why do some coaches constantly win and others seem to always loose? One element of a winning team is to be in shape. A good coach understands this learn to motivate their players to stay in shape, eat healthy and avoid drugs and other substances which are bad for their body. Another element good coaches use to assure wins is making sure players know the game time situations. We all remember in 1993 when Chris Webber called a timeout in the final seconds of the game when the team did not have one. I am not blaming that loss on the coach but that&#8217;s an example to show how vital relaying key information to your team is. This turns into good coaches testing their athletes mentally, which means winning teams are smart teams.<br/><br/>The last element that makes a good coach is making sure your team plays as one and within the spectrum of the rules. Top coaches mold teams into cooperative units working as one. Great teams are instructed by their coach to play within the rules of the game. Also if team is playing as one unit they learn to win as a team and lose as one. Teams that continuously win, are usually coached by people that see sports as a way to lead a richer, fuller life. They help their players prioritize sports into their daily life rather than let the sport consume it.<br/><br/>In conclusion, good coaches are good teachers. They work hard at developing skills, ensuring values, and guiding their athletes to success. Winning coaches win because they have utilize players&#8217; skill, know the rule, understand the value of communication, and believe in commitment. A coach&#8217;s character and his or her ability to teach are the leading winning elements. Good coaches usually have a bond with their players long after they complete their athletic competitions.<br/><br/>

<p>There is no arguement that football players need to be quick and agile. Agility training for football players in a must and needs to be addressed in every teams training program. In this article, we will discuss how the development of motor skills will help improve agility.<br/><br/>You have to get scientific about your approach. It is not good enough to simply engage in a bunch of cardiovascular exercises that do nothing to develop the specific motor skills necessary to best perform your given position. You have to know what has been proven to work to increase agility. You first need to define exactly what motor skills that you are attempting to enhance. Only then can you devise an efficient program to hone in on them with agility exercises.<br/><br/>Motor Learning Science Background<br/><br/>Motor movements have two classifications: open and closed. Each type demands specific functioning from the central nervous system (CNS). Each also requires very distinct interpretations of receptor information, efficient response mechanisms, memory recall and neuromuscular stimuli.<br/><br/>Low level motor movement, closed motor skills, in this situation of execution, is pretty much static. In other words, they remain constant and predictable.<br/><br/>* They have definitive starting and stopping points.<br/><br/>* Neuromuscular feedback to the CNS has a very small role in the execution of the movement. That means that there is very little involvement from the muscular proprioceptors for correction once the movement is set into play.<br/><br/>* A muscular proprioceptor is a signaling mechanism in a muscle or a joint that provides information to the CNS concerning the appropriateness of a given movement.<br/><br/>* The movement is self-directed and initiated from the intention of the athlete.<br/><br/>Some examples of closed motor skills are golf strokes, track and field events, archery and weightlifting. You see, these actions are stable and predictable &#8211; not a lot of variance involved.<br/><br/>At the other extreme of motor movement are the open skills. * These are more complex and require more feedback from the proprioceptors because they occur in non-static situations. * Split-second adjustments are commonly needed to successfully execute these movements. Incorrect bodily positioning, harm-announcing pressure and of course sharp pains are some of the possible feedback scenarios for incorrect motions.<br/><br/>* There can also be instantaneous reactions in movement from visual and auditory stimuli. For instance, a third baseman may immediately go into motion upon a split-second projection of a batter&#8217;s contact with a pitched ball. Also, a basketball player may immediately respond to a vocal signal from a point guard.<br/><br/>* Open motor skills are called &#8220;forced pace&#8221; skills because of the ever-evolving conditions in which they occur. Instantaneously precise actions and reactions are required for optimal success.<br/><br/>Obviously, open motor skills require a different and more advanced type of conditioning for their development. It can be a complex science just to discern the sport-specific motor skills to develop. Agility training for football varies with the position played and the natural abilities of the players. Also, it follows that there are an infinite number of possible scenarios that could or could not be task-specific enough to be beneficial when performing agility training for football.<br/><br/>In essence, agility is the ability to change your direction. This doesn&#8217;t simply apply to your entire bodily direction, but also to specific areas or parts of your body. An example would be a wide receiver jumping through the air, looking back over his own shoulders, sighting the ball sailing towards him, sustaining his altitude maximally, extending his hands high around his right side all while anticipating and preparing for an eminent collision with an oncoming opponent. This is a constant event.<br/><br/>Agility training for football is considered to be the most important overall element of a player&#8217;s training regimen. Agility training must be varied from position to position as well. For example, a defensive back may cover 10 to 15 yards every play of the game while an offensive lineman may never move more than 5 to 10 yards in any given play. There are skill positions and power positions in the game and each type must train for agility differently.<br/><br/>Here are some basic agility training exercises for football:<br/><br/>W &#8211; Pattern Cones are placed in the form of an elongated W (about 10 or 12 yards apart). The players run in straight lines from cone to cone. Focus is concentrated on rapid starts and stops.<br/><br/>Lateral Shuffle Take a dozen cones and place them roughly 5 yards apart, 1 yard in front of each other. Perform a lateral shuffle through the cones with optimal speed. No crossing feet. Stay low to the ground.<br/><br/>Figure 8 Shuffle 2 cones are placed roughly 2 yards apart. Moving around the cones, your football athlete makes 6 shuffle movemnts, in a figure 8 pattern. The direction of the shuffle is then reversed and the shuffles repeated.<br/><br/>These are just a few of the unlimited varieties of agility training exercises for football. Many other exercises and movemnt patterns can be used. The important thing to remember is that you are preparing yourself to respond instantaneously to any number of unpredictable external stimuli. You have to keep your mind open to visual stimuli and auditory commands as well as physical pressures and signals. Agility training for football is some of the most important training that players do. it needs to be practiced year round.<br/><br/>
